CRC’s Annual Date With the State

Get on the bus with local Jewish activists and advocates as we converge on Richmond for our Date with the State, formerly known as Virginia Advocacy Day. In Richmond, we will share issues of importance to the Tidewater and Virginia Jewish communities in face-to-face meetings with our local state legislators.

Representatives of other Jewish communities throughout the state also meet with their legislators that day, providing elected officials with a visible demonstration of our concerns as voting citizens, our commitment to Jewish issues and our knowledge of pending legislation and the state’s budget.

Organized by the Community Relations Council of the UJFT and its Legislative Action Committee, this day of advocacy has historically proven to be a powerful forum through which we have effectively communicated with our General Assembly members.

In preparation for this year’s Date with the State, the CRC Legislative Action Committee will be hosting a meeting on December 10 at noon at the Sandler Family Campus in Virginia Beach to select the issues that our delegation will be presenting to our General Assembly representatives. On January 7, at 6 pm, the Legislative Action Committee will host a briefing session for those people attending Date With the State, reviewing the issues we will be addressing and hearing presentations from the Executive Directors of local Jewish community-affiliated agencies that receive funding from the Commonwealth.  All members of the delegation are encouraged to attend both of these meetings.

1304 Ways you can participate in the 2013 Date with the State:
