Camp Gan Israel at Chabad of Tidewater
Learning Level: pre-K through 6th grade
Gan Israel is much more than a physical break from the school routine and winter activities. It’s a comprehensive program designed to strengthen the body and soul. It provides your child with a rich and wholesome summer vacation of fun and excitement along with friendship and meaningful educational experiences. Camp JCC at the Simon Family JCC
Learning Level: 16 months through age 13+
Camp JCC provides children with a rich and unique day camp experience.  A dynamic program allows every child to explore their own interests and try new activities within a safe camp atmosphere. Our engaging and supportive staff encourages campers to have fun, develop skills, and form meaningful relationships.  All staff members are hired for their ability to facilitate memorable experiences for our campers.  All camp personnel have a background check and participate in an extensive orientation program.

JCC Beginnings and Infant Care

PJ Library
Learning Level: 6 months through age 5
PJ Library is a Jewish family engagement program implemented on a local level throughout North America. We mail free, high-quality Jewish children’s literature and music to families across the continent on a monthly basis. PJ Library is a program of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, made possible through partnerships with philanthropists and local Jewish organizations. Today, families in hundreds of communities across the United States and Canada are able to explore the timeless core values of Judaism through books and music.

United Hebrew School of Tidewater
Learning Level: 2nd - 6th grade
The United Hebrew School brings together students from the Southside’s Conservative synagogues for twice-a-week Hebrew language instruction to prepare them for a lifetime of participation in those Jewish rituals that are read, chanted or sung in Hebrew.  UHS currently offers enrollment to students from Congregation Beth El, Kempsville Conservative Synagogue (KBH), Temple Emanuel, and Temple Israel.

Yeshivas Aish Kodesh Talmudical Academy of Norfolk operates as a four-year high school for Jewish boys, offering a dual curriculum of Judaic Studies along with a complete General Studies program, in a religious environment.  Aish Kodesh students are well prepared for their lives beyond high school, be it advanced Torah studies or advanced academics. Community Relations Council of the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater
Learning Level: All Ages
The Community Relations Council is the public affairs arm of the organized Tidewater Jewish community. It represents the area synagogues and Jewish agencies on issues impacting the rights and protection of Jews as individuals and as a community. The CRC works to educate the community on public affairs issues and translates these issues into community action with the greater community, public officials, other faith and ethnic communities and the media.

Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning

The Jewish Life and Learning department at the Simon Family JCC hosts a myriad of learning opportunities including numerous courses through the Florence Melton School. From beginners to graduates, the Melton curriculum offers adults the opportunity to study Jewish texts in an interactive, pluralistic and non-denominational environment. The “core” program involves two years of classes for 30 weeks each year taught by local instructors.

The Institute for Jewish Studies and Interfaith Understanding at Old Dominion University offers programs and events to promote the understanding of Judaism and interfaith relations in the global environment. A variety of college-level courses serve ODU students as well as community members. Norfolk Area Community Kollel

A Kollel is a group of Rabbis who are dedicated to furthering their education while at the same time offering Jewish educational opportunities to students. The "Kollel" concept is an ancient one based on the idea that every community should have Torah scholars studying at all times. The Rabbis of the Norfolk Area Community Kollel spend time learning and teaching. Their goal is to offer the classes and programming that students want.
