Educator Awards for Excellence in Holocaust Education, underwritten in part by the Leon Family Foundation, honor teachers in the area’s public and private schools who have demonstrated knowledge of Holocaust history, and have created successful teaching experiences.
Recipients of these awards receive a full scholarship to attend either the Belfer Conference at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC, or the Teacher Education Institute at the Virginia Holocaust Museum in Richmond.

Award for Excellence in Holocaust Education Application Instructions:
- Applications must be received by 5 pm on Thursday, February 23, 2012
- Respond to the following questions in writing:
- Explain why you teach the Holocaust. What are your goals and how do you measure whether you are achieving them?
- Submit a general outline (maximum of 1 typewritten page) that you have prepared for teaching the Holocaust.
- Have you worked with other teachers in developing an interdisciplinary unit on the Holocaust? If so, please elaborate.
- If you have participated in a Holocaust conference for educators, please explain how it has helped you teach the lessons of the Holocaust.
- Include on a cover page your name, school, grade level, position, number of years teaching, address, email, and phone number.
