  • B’nai B’rith Youth Organization (BBYO)
    Support for cultural, social, athletic, community service and religious programs for approximately 100 Jewish teenagers in the Tidewater Jewish community.
  • Hebrew Academy of Tidewater – Konikoff Center of Learning
    Scholarship support for families who require assistance in order to provide their elementary age children an excellent Jewish education in a day school setting.
  • Hillel
    Support for students who wish to integrate Jewish cultural, social and religious experience in a collegiate setting.
  • Jewish Education
    Program to support local community-based high school education
  • Marvin and Marilyn Simon Family Jewish Community Center
    Support to ensure that Jewish adults, children and their families have their social, educational, cultural, and recreational needs met in a welcoming Jewish setting.
  • Strelitz Early Childhood Center
    Scholarship support for young families seeking a pre-school setting infused with Jewish values and activities.
  • Synagogue/Temple Youth Groups
    Scholarship assistance for Tidewater synagogue-based youth groups

  • United Hebrew School
    Support for joint after school Jewish education studies combining the populations of four conservative synagogues and serving 80 students.
  • Va’ad Hakashrus of Tidewater
    Support for the Va’ad as a community resource to raise awareness and promote kashrut in the Tidewater Jewish community

Israel and Overseas

  • Birthright Israel
    Subsidize trips for first-time visitors to Israel who are between 18-25.
  • Bucharest Jewish Community Center, Romania
    Subsidize this rapidly growing community center. This year our funding will be directed toward the underwriting and support of youth programs and activities.
  • ORT, Former Soviet Union (FSU)
    Our funds provide a year-round busing-transportation program for the 310 Jewish children attending an ORT school in Zaporozhe, Ukraine.
  • ORT, Israel
    Support for ORT’s project to develop high-tech smart classes in Israeli high schools as part of its Kadima Mada (Science Journey) program raising the standard of science and technology education in the Jewish State. The Federation will supply two smart boards and faculty training at schools in at-risk areas—one to a secular school and one to an orthodox school.
  • Summer camp in Cristian, Romania
    Provide scholarships to underwrite the experiences of Jewish children of Romania.
