1861 The Gifford Foundation was established in 1997 through the generosity of Helen G. Gifford (of blessed memory). The Foundation supports community programs and organizations which are exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended.

In memory of Helen G. Gifford, the Gifford Foundation continues to support the organizations and activities that were important to her and located in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia, including local Jewish agencies and organizations with primary focus in the areas of cultural and performing arts and arts education.

1681 The Gifford Foundation runs on a fiscal year ending June 30th. The Tidewater Jewish Foundation has been working closely with the Gifford Foundation and assisting with their grants-making process since 2011.

Grant Applications for the July 2016 - June 2017 fiscal year are due September 15, 2016.
